About the Artist

Stacey has been drawing and painting for almost her entire life. This parallels her lifelong interest of bug hunting in her backyard. These two hobbies have come together to bring you art of the less appreciated creatures that inhabit the earth. She uses watercolor, digital paint, oil, ceramics, and other media to show the beauty of tarantulas, insects, bugs, and other creatures that may not always be considered a subject that people find beauty in.

Stacey is a graduate of California State University Long Beach with a Bachelor degree in Art Education and a single subject credential in art. She has taught in private and public art education settings for many years and then decided to focus on being a stay at home mom. In 2019 she decided to explore the possibilities of creating and selling art as a business called Mother of Spiders. She also keeps a variety of tarantulas and other invertebrates as pets which greatly inspires her subject matter.

You are encouraged to look through Stacey's work and observe images that sometimes stir up feelings of fear or discomfort. There is amazing beauty to found in the "unloved" creatures of the earth.
